Hundreds of Palestinian Civilians Killed Waiting for Humanitarian Aid

As reported also by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), on 29th February 2024, in the streets of Gaza City another tragedy unfolded amidst the ongoing war. Israeli forces opened fire on a group of Palestinians who were awaiting the arrival of food from humanitarian aid trucks.

According to reports from local health authorities, over 100 people were killed and approximately 750 were injured. In response, Dr. Isabelle Defourny, the president of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), issued a statement that sparked protests and demands for justice from the international community.
The victims of this tragic event are Palestinian civilians, struck while desperately trying to alleviate the food shortage. The Israeli forces have been accused of deliberately targeting defenseless individuals, triggering a wave of global outrage.

In a speech at the United Nations Human Rights Council, Michael Fakhri, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, stated that Israel is deliberately targeting Gaza's food system as part of a broader "campaign of starvation" in the ongoing conflict.

The international community is called to act and advocate for an immediate cease fire, along with facilitating the distribution of humanitarian aid and essential supplies throughout the Gaza Strip.
