The fourth study visit, after Washington D.C., Kosovo, Israel and Palestine, will take place in New York from the 9th to the 15th of July 2017. Students will have the opportunity to actively participate in some of ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council)’s working sessions, which are part of the High Level Political Forum framework strategy, a yearly Council meeting aimed at verifying the results obtained at an international level towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . The set objective is providing both students and young professionals the possibility of living a theoretical and practical experience on issues related to international cooperation, sustainable development and the fight towards the eradication of global poverty.
In addition, students will take part in the training course “Exploring the United Nations’ Role in the Promotion of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development” that will feature insights by the following speakers: H.E. Flores Flake (Permanent representative of Honduras to the United Nations); Henk-Jan Brinkman (UN Peacebuilding Support Office), Prof. Joe Colombano (Economic Adviser, Executive Office of the Secretary-General at United Nations); Paolo Dieci (President Link 2007), Massimo Tommasoli (Permanent Observer for International IDEA to the United Nations), Maria Rosa Cutillo (United Nations Population Fund), Corrado Quinto (L’Osservatorio), Carla Mucavi, (Food and Agricultural Organization) and Roberto Amorosino, (World Bank Organization).
